Lassonde Entreprenuer Institute Hosting Auditions For “Shark Tank”

It’s a great opportunity for our many entrepreneurs to get funding for their businesses and get some great exposure on national television.

If you’re affiliated with the University of Utah in anyway, and if fantastic business ideas flow from your mind like beer on St. Paddy’s Day, then opportunity awaits.

The Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute at the University of Utah is hosting auditions for ABC’s “Shark Tank” on April 16. All Utes — alumni, faculty, staff and students — are eligible to pitch after registering with the Lassonde Institute and completing this application form.

“We are excited to host ‘Shark Tank,’” said executive director of the Lassonde Institute Troy D’Ambrosio via press release. “It’s a great opportunity for our many entrepreneurs to get funding for their businesses and get some great exposure on national television. We have already had several teams on the program. We hope anyone with a business idea will join us to help show what the University of Utah has to offer.”

Power Practical, the water-boiling, phone-charging company founded by University of Utah students that we profiled earlier this year, is one of those Shark Tank survivors — their pitch eventually led to a $250,000 investment from Mark Cuban.

The moral of the story? One minute you’re a random person with U of U ties, the next you’re getting money from the owner of the Dallas Mavericks. It can happen to anyone.

But it can’t happen if you don’t try. So fill out the application, register with the Lassonde Institute, and start preparing yourself to blow minds.
