Qball Launches at StartFEST

It gives them an opportunity to stand out from other presenters, because they can actually engage and interact with their audience during the presentation, rather than just a Q&A at the end.

This is going to sound like the intro to a terrible joke, but I can assure you I’m being dead serious: what happens when you combine a dodgeball, a microphone, and an audio input? The correct answer is the Qball, a throwable wireless microphone that ranges up to 900 feet, automatically mutes in flight, and gives users a fun way to interact their audience. Holding a conference and somebody seated in back wants to ask a question? Chuck the Qball their way and everyone can hear them in a matter of seconds. Want to engage your third-grade class with a fun, easy way of group discussion? Pull out the Qball and start throwing it at their young, precious heads (fear not, it’s super-soft). The applications are near-endless (classrooms, events, board rooms, karaoke, etc.) and CEO Shane Cox is hoping that the world is ready to embrace what the Qball has to offer.

“Presenters are really excited about it,” said Cox. “It gives them an opportunity to stand out from other presenters, because they can actually engage and interact with their audience during the presentation, rather than just a Q&A at the end.”

The Qball was officially launched at StartFEST with an Indiegogo campaign aiming for $30,000 by October 13 — as of today, 70% of the goal has been met. As for the launch, Qballs were thrown across The Covey Center, one unfortunate soul was plunked in the head from an upper deck toss (no injuries, thankfully), and Cox also promised that for every 15 contributions at the $10 level, one Qball system would be donated to a school in need.

If throwing objects and also speaking into them is your thing, now is the time to rejoice.
