In the past two months, 186 startups entered the $250,000 pitch competition Beehive Startups is hosting at StartSLC. Thank you. We couldn’t be more thrilled with the response we’ve seen from Utah’s startup and tech community. As far as we know, this is the largest and most lucrative pitch competition currently being held in the United States. We’re honored to be hosting this pitch competition, and ecstatic to be bringing it to the great state of Utah.
For those who don’t know, the finale for this pitch competition will take place at StartSLC, which is happening Jan. 29–31 in downtown Salt Lake City.
The original plan was to have our judges vote on their favorite startups based entirely on the video and information submitted through StartSLC.com. After giving it some thought, we decided we wanted to give every qualifying startup the opportunity to deliver a live pitch in front of the 10 venture firms participating in this competition.
To make this happen, we will be inviting every qualifying startup to deliver a live four-minute pitch (a projector and screen will be available to those wanting to display a pitch deck), followed by a four-minute question and answer session with representatives from the 10 participating venture funds.
These all day pitch events will take place at Church & State on Jan. 14, 21, and 28 between the hours of 8:00 a.m and 6:00 p.m. Qualifying startups will be scheduled to pitch on one of these days in a time slot within the aforementioned hours. The public is invited to attend.
The selection process to determine the startups that qualify to pitch on one of these dates is already underway. The full list of qualifying startups and the schedule for all three events will be published on Jan. 8 on StartSLC.com/pitch.
At the conclusion of these three all day pitch events, our judges will vote to determine the top 5–8 startups who will be invited to pitch on the final night of StartSLC.
Stay tuned for more details.
