Pluralsight Adds HackHands to Growing List of Acquisitions

We believe in the power of virtual communities and collaboration, and the HackHands acquisition is central to our strategy of democratizing and revolutionizing professional technology training.

For the seventh time in the past two years, Pluralsight has made an acquisition. HackHands, the San Francisco-based online mentoring platform for programmers, will be joining the ever-growing empire of Pluralsight as they combine to take the world of online training and assessment to greater heights.

“We believe that the way we train, credential and mentor technology professionals is fundamentally changing, and Pluralsight is building an expanded platform where all of these components will be integrated for the long-term benefit of companies and enterprises around the world,” Aaron Skonnard, CEO and co-founder of Pluralsight, said in a statement. “We believe in the power of virtual communities and collaboration, and the HackHands acquisition is central to our strategy of democratizing and revolutionizing professional technology training.”

After raising nearly $170 million to boost company growth, Pluralsight has been busy: from July 2013-April 2014, Pluralsight acquired four different companies (PeepCode, TrainSignal, Tekpub, Digital-Tutors) and then supplemented that spree with the addition of two more (Smarterer and Code School) over the course of the past year. Today brings news of the Hackhands acquisition, but tomorrow? Only time will tell.

“We’re extremely excited to join the Pluralsight family. We see HackHands as a ‘911’ for developers and as a resource that will perfectly complement Pluralsight’s existing ecosystem,” Ed Roman, CEO of HackHands, said in a statement. “By infusing online learning with real-time collaboration and mentorship, we’ll be able to help increase productivity for technology professionals and businesses across the globe.”
