Utah Senate Passes Bill Allowing Zenefits Back Into Utah
With the passage of this bill, Utah has once again demonstrated that it is a pro-business, pro-innovation state.
Once upon a time — or maybe just four short months ago — Zenefits was banned from doing business in Utah.
About one week ago, encouraging progress was made, with the Utah House of Representatives passing a bill allowing Zenefits back into the state.
Today, even more encouraging progress has been made: the Utah Senate has unanimously passed HB 141, meaning Zenefits return to Utah is quickly approaching. The House will meet again to vote on concurring with the Senate, and then Gov. Herbert’s signature will be the final piece of the puzzle.
“With the passage of this bill, Utah has once again demonstrated that it is a pro-business, pro-innovation state,” Zenefits CEO Parker Conrad said. “Governor Herbert, Lieutenant Governor Cox, Representative Knotwell, and Senator Bramble have been champions for technology and innovation, and we thank them for their leadership on this matter. Everyone at Zenefits is excited to resume offering our services to Utah businesses so that they can focus on people, not paperwork.”
Update: The Utah House has approved HB 141 for the second time, all that remains is Gov. Herbert’s approval.
