Comcast Utah (NYSE:CMCSA), which provides Xfinity services to around 120 Utah communities from Logan to Payson and from Heber to Tooele/Grantsville, plans to invest $22 million in network expansion for over 18,000 Eagle Mountain residents and businesses.
Beginning in early 2023, Eagle Mountain residents can access not only Internet Essentials but the entire Xfinity product suite, including Xfinity Internet, Xfinity Mobile, Xfinity X1 cable and Xfinity Home security.
Residential customers will also be able to use more than 19 million hotspots across the country, an award-winning voice remote, and streaming service offering more than 15,000 hours of content.
According to a company press release, Bryan Thomas, vice president, Network Engineering, Comcast Mountain West Region, says the Eagle Mountain network expansion is the latest example of the company's investments in the state.
He added:
“We are committed to supporting Utah’s growth plans by building infrastructure and bringing high-speed broadband to meet the state’s next-generation capacity needs. . . Since 2019, we’ve invested $881 million in technology and infrastructure capital expenditures, taxes and fees, employee wages and benefits, and charitable giving.”
Since 2011, Comcast's Internet Essentials program has connected 160,000 low-income Utahns to the internet in their homes. This expansion will provide qualifying families and individuals with access to affordable broadband services.
According to a company press release, once completed, businesses can access the full Comcast Business services suite, including Ethernet, Internet, advanced voice solutions, and video services, including WiFi, Voice, TV, and managed enterprise solutions for businesses of all sizes.
