Parsons Behle Lab, a Utah-based legal technology startup, provides digital platforms and automated solutions to empower companies to work efficiently with clients, automate their legal practices and become compliant quickly and cost-effectively with today’s data privacy regulations – both domestically and internationally. Parsons Behle Lab was founded as a subsidiary of one of the Intermountain West’s largest and oldest law firms, Parsons Behle & Latimer. The firm’s progressive vision supported the formation of Parsons Behle Lab to create disruptive technologies that are modernizing the legal industry and providing greater access to legal services with maximum convenience and cost effectiveness.

During May 2018, Parsons Behle Lab released its first product to empower companies to comply with the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The application’s success was astounding. Parsons Behle Lab created a tool that enabled businesses of all sizes to comply with GDPR in a fast, effective and affordable way. That success lead to the development of the Lab’s California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) Solution, another tremendous success. To date, Parsons Behle Lab has developed nearly a dozen automated solutions, including applications to meet the requirements of the CCPA, GDPR, and similar regulations in Nevada, Canada, Australia and other locations. Parsons Behle Lab has been instrumental in solving global data privacy requirements for Utah companies in a wide range of industries.

Parsons Behle Lab is fast becoming a leader in privacy law automation. The Lab’s Privacy Solutions have revolutionized organizations’ responses to data privacy regulations in much the same way that automated tax software has transformed tax filing. The Solutions utilize subject matter expertise obtained from data privacy attorneys to pose a series of intelligent questions which are then used to generate customized privacy documents. Included in the Solutions package is the one-on-one support of a skilled data privacy attorney. Following a standard conflict check, a data privacy attorney from Parsons Behle & Latimer guides the customer through the Solution process, provides legal counsel and reviews the completed documentation. For a fraction of the cost of traditional legal services, users have access to the experience and efficiency of a knowledgeable attorney at a significant cost and time savings.

Recognizing the wave of consumer privacy laws on the horizon (to date there are approximately 25 states with pending privacy legislation), Parsons Behle Lab’s visionary team has embarked on its most ambitious project to date – a single, unified privacy solution that will simplify compliance with each law as it is enacted. This solution is called the Umbrella Privacy Solution.

The Umbrella Privacy Solution sets an exceptional standard for consumer privacy. The Solution protects consumer information and adds responses for individual privacy laws as Schedules to the Umbrella Solution. The system will automatically update as laws evolve or emerge and will provide tools to track Consumer Requests per each consumer’s local jurisdiction. A unified approach answers the demands of rapidly-proliferating privacy laws and the management of data privacy compliance from multiple jurisdictions. The Umbrella Solution provides annual one-on-one counseling with a well-informed attorney to make the compliance process quick and easy from initial engagement and throughout the process.
