Owlet Raises $7M

This is going to be a crazy two years — we are planning to triple the size of the company and hopefully be in 50,000 homes by mid-2017.

With a push to make their Smart Sock available to the public this fall, Owlet Baby Care has raised $7 million — $1 million from a National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant and the remaining $6 million from a Series A round led by Formation 8 (F8). Carpe Diem VC, Azimuth Ventures, ffcv, Eniac Ventures, and Peak Ventures also participated in the round.

“We could not be happier to work with F8,” Kurt Workman, Owlet CEO, said in a statement. “There is no other venture capital firm that has more real world experience in hardware than F8. This is an exciting time at Owlet.”

The Owlet Smart Sock is a new-age baby monitor that tracks your infant’s vital signs — heart rate, oxygen levels — and relays that information to your smartphone.

“This is going to be a crazy two years — we are planning to triple the size of the company and hopefully be in 50,000 homes by mid-2017,” Jordan Monroe, Owlet Co-Founder, said in a statement.
