This week we’re talking with Owlet co-founder and CEO Kurt Workman about saving lives of newborns and infants. His company has made a sock that will monitor your child’s pulse and oxygen as they sleep.
Provo-based Owlet Baby Care raised $7 million in Series A funding on Aug. 18, 2015
The round of funding was led by Formation 8 (F8), with participation from Blake Mycoskie, founder of TOMS Shoes, out of his new fund Carpe Diem VC. It also included Owlet’s previous investors Azimuth Ventures, ffvc, Eniac Ventures and Peak Ventures.
Owlet is also receiving $1 million for participating in a government National Institutes of Health grant.
The company is currently ramping up to make its Smart Sock available to the public, planned for this fall. The product is currently only available to early supporters and new supporters in limited production.
Owlet launched and completed a successful Kickstarter in 2013 but still has yet to bring the product to the public.
