Silicon Slopes is excited to announce Jimmy Pitaro, Chairman of ESPN, will be joining our speaker lineup for Silicon Slopes Summit 2023.
Jimmy Pitaro was named Chairman in February 2023, taking on the operational and financial responsibilities of one of The Walt Disney Company's three core business segments. He oversees the management and supervision of ESPN's wide portfolio of sports content, products, and experiences across all Disney platforms worldwide.
Jimmy earned a Bachelor's of Science in economics in 1991 from Cornell University and a Juris Doctor from St. John’s Law School in 1994. He was named Head of Business Affairs for Launch.com after practicing law in New York for five years. Then, joined Yahoo! Inc. where he was named to Sports Business Journal’s “Forty Under 40.”
Jimmy joined The Walt Disney Company in 2010, leaving his role as the Head of Media for Yahoo! Inc. In his time with The Walt Disney Company, he has served as co-president, Disney Interactive, ESPN President & Co-chair, Chairman, ESPN & Sports Content, and, now, Chairman of ESPN.
Under Pitaro, ESPN has strengthened its brand and its multi-platform leadership, fueled largely by a series of major rights agreements in recent years that touch every aspect of where fans gather: linear, streaming, social, digital, audio. His management approach – Discuss, Debate, Decide, Align – has been central to ESPN’s successful evolution during a period of rapid change.
Jimmy also serves on a variety of industry and charitable boards, including the NCTA, the Paley Center for Media, The V Foundation, The National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame, Pacer, and CoachArt. He also serves as Co-Committee Chair of the March of Dimes, is a Board Observer at Draft Kings, and is a member of the Cornell Athletic Alumni Advisory Committee.
