Dinosaurs are set to roam the Ashton Gardens this summer as Dinosaur Island returns for its second year at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, Utah. Presented by Mountain America Federal Credit Union, this thrilling event will showcase over 30 life-sized, animatronic dinosaurs, turning the Ashton Gardens into a prehistoric paradise that began on May 27 and runs through August 26, 2023.
Produced by Dino Don, Inc., known for their impressive and accurate animatronic dinosaur exhibitions, Dinosaur Island will feature 32 magnificent, life-sized dinosaurs. These awe-inspiring creatures will be strategically placed throughout the expansive 50-acre Ashton Gardens, allowing visitors to witness their impressive movements and hear their thunderous roars.
Among the stars of Dinosaur Island will be beloved favorites like the Tyrannosaurus Rex and the Triceratops, as well as gigantic creatures such as the Giganotosaurus and Brachiosaurus, boasting lengths exceeding 30 feet and towering heights of over 20 feet.
In addition to the animatronic wonders, Dinosaur Island will offer an array of attractions and exhibits. Visitors can explore dinosaur fossils, molds, and models from the Mountain America Museum of Ancient Life's collection, as well as encounter ancient plants, insects, and other wildlife of the past. The event will also feature the Dino Dash 5k on August 5, where participants can run through Dinosaur Island during the cool morning hours.
Children will have the opportunity to play paleontologist at the Dig Quarry play station, where they can dig and unearth dinosaur bones. Interactive elements like mist machines, an "active" volcano, carnival games, and educational dinosaur puppets that explain the ancient creatures' survival strategies will captivate guests of all ages. Every Tuesday and Thursday, the Free Flight Bird Show will take place, showcasing living relatives of dinosaurs. And to satisfy hungry visitors, Dinosaur Island will offer themed concessions, including the Brachiosaurus Cheeseburger and the intriguing Dinosaur Blood drink.
Dinosaur Island will be open to the public Monday-Saturday, between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. As Dinosaur Island is a time-ticketed event, organizers strongly encourage guests to purchase tickets in advance. Prices range from $17 to $24, with free admission granted to children aged two and under, as well as Thanksgiving Point members.
