M&P Ep. 18: Rebecca Dilg, Rural Commhnity & Outreach Manager for the Governor's Office of Economic Development

Meat and Potatoes shines a light on the people in Silicon Slopes who get things done. Hosted by Silicon Slopes Director of Operations Garrett Clark and random interns we explore how, why, and when they get those things done, and why their work is the meat and potatoes of Utah’s tech community.

In episode 18, we talk with Rebecca Dilg who is the Rural Community & Outreach Manager for the Governor's Office of Economic Development. We talk about the Rural Economic Development Initiative (REDI)

The program which gives grants of between $4,000 and $6,000 to companies per position created of new high-paying jobs in rural counties (of the 4th,5th, and 6th classes).

The REDI program is a great incentive for companies whether located within those rural counties or outside--perhaps nestled in the Silicon Slopes--to hire remote workers. The benefit to these hiring companies, in addition to the grant, is an employee with a great work ethic located at home or in a satellite hub hired at less than Wasatch Front wages.
